Not Forgotten Exhibit at George Eastman House

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (February 26, 2008) – An exhibit titled "Not Forgotten: Portraits of Life and Death in Rochester" will be running at the George Eastman House from January 19 until March 2, 2008. The exhibit features the work of Will Yurman, a staff photographer for the Democrat & Chronicle.

The exhibit is the compilation of Yurman's work documenting the stories of every homicide victim in the Rochester area in 2007. Families and Friends of Murdered Children and Victims of Violence (FFMCVV) believes the work of Yurman helps the public understand the devastation an act of violence can have on individuals, families, and whole communities. A link to Yurman's work can be found at www.ffmcvv.org/notforgotten.

FFMCVV, formed in 1991, offers grief support, basic needs support (food, clothing, transportation, etc.), information and referral services, survivor and victim advocacy, and criminal justice advocacy. FFMCVV has built a strong relationship with the City of Rochester, and is notified by the Rochester Police Department when a violent act occurs so a FFMCVV employee can come to the scene to offer support to the victim’s family and friends. The Community Place of Greater Rochester, a nonprofit provider of neighborhood-based human services that offers a variety of programs and services to individuals, families, children, the aging, and the developmentally disabled living in the greater Rochester area, serves as managing partner of FFMCVV.
